From the Principal
Welcome to Selwyn House, an internationally-minded community of learners and leaders. In seventy eight years as an independent school for girls, Selwyn House has grown into a caring community that nurtures each girl’s unique talents and strengths. As an International Baccalaureate World School, we offer a strong curriculum that develops our students’ inquiry and critical thinking skills and encourages a balance between academics and co-curricular choices, and emphasizes a global perspective.
Our highly qualified teachers are focused on helping – and challenging – our students to do their best. Selwyn House students enjoy a wide range of co-curricular, sporting, artistic and leadership opportunities that make for a rich, vibrant school life.

Our History
Selwyn House School opened in 1929. It was founded by those who believed in the power of education to provide young women with the opportunity to develop and realise their potential for their own benefit and for the benefit of others. This philosophy still guides our school today.
Our school motto, “I am, I can, I ought, I will”, is as relevant today as it was when introduced at our foundation. It encourages the girls to believe in themselves and to strive for what they want to achieve.
When a girl becomes part of the Selwyn House community, she joins a school with a long tradition of educating young women. Our school has traditionally focussed on offering a unique and innovative education, which continues to evolve to meet the challenges of the 21-century.
